If Your Heart is Untrue πŸ’” A Poem

If your heart is untrue,
And your words are cruel,
The day you will rue,
When the bill comes due.

You may lie with a smile,
Hide your spite with grace,
But truth walks the mile,
And time keeps the pace.

You may rise for a time,
Built on others’ pain,
But the chime of the crime
Will ring clear again.

A mask cannot last
When the winds start to shift;
The sins of the past
Will return, swift and stiff.

So speak with care,
And walk with the light,
For shadows wear
The dark cloak of night.

And when the mirror shows
The soul inside of you,
May regret not grow
From the harm you do.

If your heart is untrue,
And your words are cruel,
The day you will rue,
When the bill comes due.
